Compulsory Education

If state education is NOT compulsory for 3 to 5 years olds, can anyone tell me if I am able to take my child out of class for 1 to 2 weeks at a time, a few times during the school year without any problem ? My Husband has started a new jobs where he will spend long-ish periods in the UK and I would like the family to spend time together if at all possible.

I've taken my daughter out of school at that age without any problem (although not for periods quite as long as that) without any problems at all - infact if anything the teachers saw it as educational - but I would imagine that it will really depend on the attitude of the school and the teachers as a whole.

Homeschooling could be a better option for you here maybe ? especially if this is something that you will be doing off and on for a long time.

In an ideal world we would all stay as Spanish Residents, but have the flexibility to spend periods of time back in the UK as and when my Husband's work didn't allow him to come back to Spain. We much prefer the lifestyle and education that our children have here in Spain , but spending so much time apart will be difficult.

I agree, Homeschooling would probably be the best option, but as far as I'm aware the Spanish authorities take a pretty dim view of it.

I think for the ages that you are talking about it would really depend on the opinion of the induvidual school and class teachers. Some may be open to this idea and some may be pretty obstructive. The worst you can do is ask !

I am coming round to the idea that it would be better for them, and far less disruptive for them just to attend the one school.
The next question is UK or Spain !
