Bringing a Motorbike to Spain

Postby BusterBloodvessel » Sun Jan 01, 2012 9:47 am

My 19 year old son has just been made redundant in the Uk and has decided to take a break and spend some time out to ride his motorbike to Spain, where he might stay for a few months - maybe a bit longer if he likes it or can find a job. What does he need to do about his motorbike ?

He is 19, holds an A1 Licence, and has a 125cc Yamaha.
Many Thanks

The proceedure is the same with a motorbike as it is with a car - He can drive it over here as a UK registered vehicle for 6 months, on a UK licence, and then has to either sell it, take it back to the UK or legally import it.

I suspected that this was the case, but have heard conflicting reports from the usual 'Bar Stool Experts' : Good to have a second opinion, Thanks.

This is something that almost every Lawyer or Gestor will be able to help with, but I suspect that it would be cheaper and easier in the long run if he just sold it and purchased a Spanish one when that point in time arrived.

He would be better off buying one over here as and when he needed one.
