My daughter's school is losing 2 teachers at the end of the year, but it would be unfair to suggest that this was down to the school imposing larger classroom sizes. For example, in her year at school there have previously been 2 x classes of 16, but over the last 2 years the numbers have fallen to 1 x 13 and 1 x 14. Previously the year was too large to fit into one class, but now it is.
Of course, there have been certain cuts - such as school trips - but this is down the teaching staff refusing to forego their 2/3 hour lunchbreak in the middle of the day when taking the class away from school. They used to do this withput complaint, but since the education reforms which has already increased their hours, and reduced their rights and their pay, they are perhaps justified in making a stand on this point !
