Tyres !

Can somebody please help me with some info that I am getting conflicting opinions about ?
- Do the tyres on a car need to be the same make, model & manufacturer on each wheel, or just on each axel ?

As far as I am aware the tyres all need to be the same spec on every wheel on the vehicle, but the front and back axels can be of different manufacture.

So, if I have a different manfacture on the front and rear axels, how does this affect what my spare tyre should be ?

A Good Question ! - I suppose the DGT would argue that a spare tyre is only to be used to get you from the site of your puncture to the closest garage, where you can make an immediate repair.

I would imagine that if you are simply travelling from the site of a puncture to a garage or repair shop on a short journey, that any Guardia officer who may stop you would be understanding, and that this would only really apply for longer journeys.

That's what logic and common sense might say, but what if you were stopped by Guardia and said that you replaced your tyre just 5 minutes ago, but they asked you prove it - you could have been driving with you tyres in that condition for weeks.

Unless you have a really good reason its just not worth taking the risk over. Just exchange like for like, as per the old tyres (and check with your Fichas that the old one were also the correct ones !)
