Castellon airport

Postby PaulGlover » Tue Jan 10, 2012 9:04 am

I read yesterday that Castellon airport has been finished of sorts for almost 3 years, and has this year spent 30 Million Euros on advertising, but not one flight has either arrived yet, or is scheduled to arrive.
Where is all this money coming from and why ?

I'm not sure even the economists in Central Government could answer that one with any certainty

.... maybe the fact that Carlos Fabra, the President of the company behind the airport, is currently on a corruption charge partly asnwers the question for you ?

Aerocas have finally severed their contract with Airport Concessions (legally and officially at least) and are free to appoint another manager for the airport. I'm not sure that I can think of anybody stupid enough to want to take the job on.... oh, hang on - I forgot we were in Spain !

Can someone explain to me the logic in spending any money at all - let alone 30 Million - on an airport that they knew 3 years ago didn't have the operating licences to fly ? Even on the off-chance that they did attract any interest from tour operators (who I can't belive would sell holidays before the airport had actually opened) HOW would they expect the planes to be able to land ?
