As Murcia grows, so do the attractions! It has been announced that Paramount Theme Park will open in 2015...

News - Proper News !

I don't know about you, but I'm getting pretty tired of reading so-called 'news' that seems to be re-worded and regurgitated by certain Murcia-based Real Estate Agents (in the form of press releases) in a very thinly veiled attempt to jump on the bandwagon and sell properties ... or is it just me ?

Unfortunately that is the power of the internet these days ! A news story or press release or article can be spun into almost anything in a bid for self-promotion - I don't see why something like Paramount should be any different. But I do agree that after reading two or three of the what is basically the same re-spun new stories that it starts to wear a little thin.

I suppose at this stage it's all spin. Nothing has tangibly happened.

The promise of 20,000 + jobs and 4million visitors is about the biggest and most important thing to hit the region since the property boom, so it's understandable, given the current doom and gloom, that people and businesses are latching onto it.

For many home owners stuck in their properties and needing to sell up and go back to the UK, it at least gives them a glimmer of hope of finding a buyer.

For business people from bar owners to estate agents, it could be just the boost they need after a long period of famine, with their businesses either bust or heading that way.

I suspect that any real benefits will only be realised when those visitors start coming, until then, the ripple effect with be very localised and gradual.

Still, compared to other provinces, at least Murcia has a new airport and theme park to look forward too. If it happens :|

I see from today's news that Paramount Licencing in the USA have sent the big guns in. I can't help but feel that this isn't a coincidence following last week's glitch !

It certainly seems that way. They are expecting payment for their licenced brand usage, they don't want any hold ups in their cash flow this year :|

"This Year" ? .... I think they are going to need to be a little more patient than that if they want to see a return on Investment.

I agree, it is too early for them to be be looking at an ROI when Premursa haven't even been able to sign to buy the land yet !

As I understand it, Paramount are selling licenses to use their Brand and film/character franchises for up to 40 years. I don't think anyone knows the financial payment structure to Paramount, possibly annually or quarterly.

I'm fairly certain there is no capital outlay or funding from Paramount, so I don't expect they are looking for a return on an investment because they haven't technically invested anything.

Maybe they have nothing to lose in terms of finance, but surely in the long run it would be much worse for the company if the Paramount name was to be linked with yet another theme park failure ?

Quite, or indeed the dreaded brown envelope of corruption. I wouldn't blame Paramount for pulling the plug at the slightest whiff of that sort of thing.
