Would insurance policy premiums be significantly lower if I were to fit rejas to the doors & windows on my property ?

In some cases yes. Some insurance companies insist on it in certain areas and it can be impossible to insure without them.

Others never seem to ask.

We have a pack of stray, hungry dogs living with us and no one dare come fit Rejas :) They daren't rob us either!!

Yes, but " Do you have a vicious dog ? " is never a question that Insurance companies seem to ask, let alone make allowance for.

:D Good point Jay. They look vicious but are very soft.

A friend has 2 deaf Dalmations and says he is very concerned that if burglars broke in and and tripped over them he could be sued!!

I've got an 8 Stone Rhodesian Ridgeback. A couple of years ago a would-be thief came onto our property when I was out and my 7 Month pregnant Mrs was at home on her own. The Dog mauled this guy. I mentioned the event off the record to a Guardia friend who just laughed and said if the thief was stupid enough to report it he would probably get much worse from the Guardia anyway.

Although you may have a good point, you can't expect insurance companies to then pay out if you are robbed whilst taking your dog for a walk, or if the dog is at vet' etc...

Generally speaking, and in the majority of cases, yes.

I Suppose it would also depend on whether the property was for full time residential use or just occasional holiday use aswell ?

The security required with insurers can depend on the occupancy, some do not ask or do not tell you what is actually required! The location of the property is important too, non urban areas are considered higher risk with Spanish companies.
