Spanish Language Boot Camp

Postby Jimbo » Thu Apr 19, 2012 12:03 pm

I speak an ok standard of Spanglish / Spanish and can get by in most basic conversations, but I am finding it really hard to push through to the next level.
The problem is that I have been in Spain for 6 years and have had a number of language courses, but struggle to find the opportunity to practice.
I have had a few Intercambio partners but they are a bit flaky and unreliable, so I can't really rely on them to give me the practice that I need.
I have a good memory and expereince in other languages, so what I would really like is a two-week residential 'Boot Camp' where I live and spend all my time with native Spanish speakers and take intensive lesson during the day, speaking nothing but Spanish 100% of the time, and where Spanish speakers will continually correct my mistakes.

Do anybody know of such a school / course who can help me with something like this ? Not bothered for all the fluffy cultural guff that many schools offer - I'm not a tourist !

Most language schools offer various accomodation packages for different students of different levels and ages. If you called them and spoke to them about your requirements they would probably place you lodging with a local family for your stay, so you speak to them in Spanish when you are not at school, and then upgrade you so you take extra lessons in place of all the "Cultural Guff". Basically, just speak to them.

Boots camps serve a purpose and are a great idea, but acheive very little unless the particpant has the opportunity to practice the language regularly after the lessons !
