St. Valentines Day is always frought with dilema... Should you or shouldn''t you ?!
Traditionally the sacred day of love, the pastime of sending gifts, treats and cards otherwise known as "Valentines" is becoming more and more popular in Spain with many embracing the romantic side of the event and treating their nearest and dearest to a thoughtful and romantic day showered with affection.
According to Wikipedia, the day was first associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. In 18th-century England, the event evolved into what we now know to be St. Valentines Day using heart shapes, doves and a winged Cupid as depicting symbols.
The giving and receiving of gifts has always been noted as a sign of thought and appreciation, however showing affection, love and gratitude is slightly more difficult!
Finding that perfect gift to lovingly give to the love of your life can be quite difficult, especially in the smaller towns spread far and deep into rural Spain.
So with the wonders of the modern age, we''ve hunted across the internet to bring you some modern twists for this hugely popular and important event... No need to thank us, but do share with your friends and/or loved ones. They may be frantically searching for the perfect gift for you!
