Orange Spain has confirmed reports that it will begin selling smart TVs at highly competitive rates in a bid to compete with Telefonica and boost take-up of its convergent services. Orange will sell two Samsung smart TVs (the 32-inch J4500 and the 43-inch J5600), while its subsidiary Jazztel will sell two LG sets (the 32-inch LF592U and the 42-inch LF5800).
Discounts of up to 65% and 24-month payment plans starting at EUR 4.95 per month will be offered to subscribers to Orange's Canguro convergent tariffs and to any Jazztel broadband plans.
Orange had 215,000 pay-TV subscribers at 30 September and recently reached an agreement with Rakuten's VoD subsidiary Wuaki.tv to offer the streaming service's entire catalogue to its pay-TV customers at no extra cost until May 2016.
