Spain sees 2nd year of building growth in 2015

Information released by the Ministry of Public Works earlier this week revealed how the number of building licences granted in 2015 for new-build homes totaled 49,695.

This represented growth of 42.5% , with licences granted for the 2014 standing at 34,873, and representing the second year of growth.

35,025 of the licences granted were for apartments (up 50.3%), and 14,651 were for individual family homes (up 26.8%).

2014 saw a return to building growth (up 1.7%), following 7 years of contraction.

This came after a record low in the year 2013 when just 34,288 licences were granted - representing a 96% fall on the record high year of 2006 when a total of 865,561 permits were issued.
