Carrefour Spain To Create 5,300 'Stable' Jobs In 2017

Carrefour Spain has announced that it will create more than 5,300 'stable' jobs in 2017.

Investing in youth employment will continue to be a top priority this year, along with a focus on digital aptitude, in order to support its omnichannel transformation.

The retailer plans to hire employees with sales experience, digital savvy, client service skills, and the ability to work in a team.

Roughly 3,400 positions will be filled by the integration of the staff from outlets acquired from Basque cooperative Eroski, which will form an integral part of Carrefour's business park in the country.

The company has pledged to award 85% of its workforce with an open-ended contact. By the end of the year, Carrefour hopes to have 49,000 staff in Spain.

This year, Carrefour spent more than €15 million to train its staff, equalling some 800,000 training hours.

Carrefour worked with more than 300 universities in 2016, and plans to collaborate with another 300 this year.

In 2016, the chain hired 60 young people with technological expertise to help the company grapple with its drive towards digitalisation.
