AENA - the Spanish Airports Authority - has said that it expects normal flight services in the skies above Spain in the run up to the traditionally busy Easter period.
AENA Chairman, Juan Lema, said that he expected a holiday season without any problems, and hoped that the air traffic controllers would not use strike action to protest against the new legal decree which is to change their working conditions and reduce wages by some 40%.
Air traffic controllers union USCA has said that they will be working as usual over Easter, and the new law gives the power to sanction any behaviour which interrupts normal services, with the power even to sack those concerned.
Meanwhile talks on the new wage round restart next week, with AENA contracting a private firm of lawyers, Cusán, to represent them.
