The Spanish National Health Department has said how it wants to make savings of 1.5 billion € per year in pharmaceutical costs alone.
Throughout 2009 the Spanish Health Service spent 12,506,217,283 € just on prescriptions.
At a meeting with the Regional Health Authorities yesterday, Minister Trinidad Jiménez, said how she wanted to see health services paying for the cheapest version of any drugs and medicines, provided that they had proved themselves to be safe and effective.
