The President of the USA, Barack Obama, has invited Prime Minister Zapatero, to the nuclear safety summit meeting, to be held in Washington on the 12th & 13th of April and with the aim of strengthening the fight against nuclear terrorism.
The President’s letter to Zapatero says how those attending will attempt to find effective measures to protect 'vulnerable' nuclear material all over the world over the coming four years, in order to 'frustrate the ambitions of those who would cause unthinkable damage' to the planet as a whole.
Representatives from over 40 Countries has been invited to attend the summit, which will be held at the White House next month.
This will be Zapatero's second visit to Washington – during the first, in October 2009, he met Obama at the White House for the first time.
Obama proposes 'a sincere and open examination' about terrorism in an attempt to find an international consensus to protect the world against the consequences of a nuclear terrorist attack.
