Sales of Spanish properties rose for the third consecutive month, increasing 9% in March according to a recent report by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Today’s announcement reveals a total of 37,561 transactions undertaken in March, and whilst the numbers are up, the increase is not as large as February when sales increased by 18%, the biggest increase in over two years.
The report details how re-sales grew by 25.1% (19,212 sales) but new-build sales fell by 4% (18,349 sales).
Last months figures show how an national average of 100 properties were sold for every 100,000 head of population, however the region of Cantabria saw more transactions than any other region, with 152 transactions for every 100,000 inhabitants.
Following on were Navarra (150), Murcia (121), La Rioja (119), Comunidad Valencia (114), Andalucía (111), Castilla y León (108), Castilla-La Mancha (108), Aragón (104) and Extremadura (103).
The worst performing regions were Madrid (99), Basque Country (98), Asturias (93), Balearic Islands (86), Canary Islands (84), Galicia (82), Catalunya (76), with Ceuta bringing up the bottom of the table with 61 sales for every 100,000 head of population.
