Spain's rising unemployment 'slows down'

The Country's unemployment level fell during the month of May, aswell as there being an increase in those paying into the Social Security system.

Last months figures decreased by 76,223 - the second consecutive month where statistics have slowed down. The Ministry of Employment now lists the total unemployed as being 4,066,202.

A marked fall in unemployment came from the construction sector, with 20,573 listed for May - three times greater than the same month last year.

The overall increase in unemployment since May 2009 is stil 446,063, or 12.3%.

Those accepting benefits of some kind from the social security system has increased for the fourth consecutuve month with statistics showing an increase in May of 113,237 people.
