Spain's Mapfre first half net down 5.7 pct on storms

Spanish insurer Mapfre posted a 5.7 percent fall in first-half net profit from a year ago, hit by the earthquake in Chile and storms in Spain and the United States.

Mafre said net profit was 500.2 million euros ($638.2 million), with none of the one-off gains it enjoyed a year earlier, while premium revenue rose 9.6 percent to 9.114 billion euros.
