Spain's foreign visitors spent an average of 90 euros a day last month, according to a recent report by the ministry of industry and commerce.
Apparently foreign holidaymakers spent a total of 6.334 million euros during July – approx 911 euros per head – a rise of almost 4% compared to June. July also marked the third consecutive month in which visitor spending spending increased.
This year to date, foreign visitors to Spain have spent 1.4% more than they did in 2009, with a national average of 906 euros each, or 96 euros a day.
Holidaymakers spent the most in Catalunya and the Canary Islands, followed by the Balearics and Andalucía.
The Brits were the biggest spenders with 5,637 million euros – a rise of almost 9% on last year – followed by the Germans, the French, and the Scandinavians.
