Earlier today Iberdrola reported that their third-quarter electricity output rose by 2% to 35,367 gigawatt-hours, due to a significant increase in hydroelectric and coal-fired power production.
Hydroelectric power rose 64% on the year, thanks to some heavy rain earlier in the year which topped up hydroelectric reservoirs.
Output from coal powered generators increased by 24%, while nuclear and renewable production both rose 17% in the third quarter when compared to the same period last year.
By the end of the third quarter, Iberdrola's capacity stood at 44.46 gigawatts - a growth of 0.7% compared to the thrird quarter of 2009. Oil-powered electricity production decreased, however its renewable power output increased.
