- Liva & Laia : 15th November
Effective tomorrow, Spain's Department of Transport (DGT) will publish details of traffic fines for motoring offences on their website. As of the 25th of November a list of all untraceable motorists DGT will be uploaded.
Previously notification of motoring fines where the DGT has been unable to contact the driver has been placed in the Official Provincial Bulletin, however the vast majority of these remain unpaid. The growing popularity of the internet now puts the onus on the driver to check for themselves that they do not have any fines outstanding.
A spokesman for the DGT commented how the new system is an improvement, as the old system meant that many drivers were only aware of a speeding fine being issued when the funds were deducted from their bank account.
Users of this new DGT service will also be able to access an area on the website where, they can see notifications of motoring infractions and ITV reminders.
