Investors who are betting against Spain are mistaken, Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said on RAC1 radio on Friday morning.
"Those who are taking short positions against Spain are going to be mistaken" Zapatero said.
Spain's borrowing costs have soared as investors sell off its sovereign bonds on concerns its high deficit and debt-laden banks could force it into needing a financial rescue.
Zapatero ruled out "absolutely" that Spain will need a bailout.
