The UK's Government met earlier this week to discuss the possibility of allowing early access to Pension savings.
Although the Government have made no commitment to any firm decision being made, it could be good news for expats who have taken early retirement - if and when any action in the positive is taken.
One of Spain's leading expat pension advisors commented "It needs to be said that at this stage this is just a discussion document.... if anything should be decided I can't see anything happening before April 2012."
Stephen Ward, from Premier Pension Solutions continued "At this stage the document proposes four possible ways in which pension funds could be accessed, but encorporating this into the current UK tax system would be a complex issue."
If the proposals are carried through it could allow much more flexibility for expats with regards to managing and accessing any penisons that they may still have back in the UK.
