The Chinese Vice Premier's recent visit to Spain continued to broaden relations between the two countries, China's ambassador to Spain said yesterday.
"We believe Spain will overcome the current economic difficulties, and we, as one of Spain's best friends, will do our best to stick to our responsibilities and obligations," Ambassador Zhu Bangzao told a press conference.
Speaking about the unprecedented 7.5 billion U.S. dollars' worth of business contracts signed during Vice-Premier Li's visit last week, he commented how he expected more similar agreements with even higher values to be discussed, and urged businesses in both countries to continue to cooperate with one another.
To ensure the success of the China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership, the ambassador said how four key points should be focussed upon.
Firstly, frequent visits by key dignitaries should continued, in order to further strengthen bilateral political trust and dispel any misgivings.
Secondly, while maintaining a steady growth of bilateral trade in traditional areas, the two countries should further expand their cooperation in the finance, telecom, infrastructure construction, renewable energy and tourism sectors.
Thirdly, exchanges and cooperation in culture, education, science and technology and media should be further enhanced to encourage better realationship and understanding between the two countries.
Finally, both should further strengthen collaboration within the frameworks of the United Nations and the G20, and jointly play a positive role in promoting global peace and development.
The ambassador also spoke of the importance China has attached to the trilateral relations between China, Spain and the Latin America, given the similarities in culture and language of the latter two. He said he hopes the three parties to continue to cooperate and tap into each other's strength to explore the third-party's market, to bring about a positive outcome for all.
