Earlier today Jet2 announced the appointment of Ashley Cowen a sthe airline's new Operations Director, with responsibility for ground operations, operations control and crewing across all of the airline's bases.
Ian Doubtfire, MD of Jet2.com commented: "I am delighted to welcome Ashley Cowen to the position of Operations Director. With an enviable track record, and bringing with him a wealth of experience from previous roles in the aviation industry, I am confident that Ashley will prove a valuable addition to the team."
Only last week Jet2.com announced seven new routes to Spain for 2011, to include :
- Málaga – Edinburgh (starting on April 2.) This was originally intended to be a twice weekly services but igh demand has resulted in a third flight over the summer, between May 23 and October 24.
- Alicante, with three new routes to Glasgow, Newcastle and East Midlands (these new routes supporting the exisiting flights from Alicante to Blackpool, Leeds & Manchester)
The increased number of flights and resulting volume of passengers at Alicante means the airline will take responsibility for its own luggage handling a of 1st April. Jet2 staff based at Alicante is expected to rise to 55, resulting in a total of 226 Jet2 workers based in Spain a a whole.
These 7 new routes will bring the total number of flights by Jet2 between Spain and the UK to 49, with a capeability of servicing 450'000 passengers every year.
