Spain's Telecommunications Market Commission (TMC) published its quarterly report earlier this week, detailing all on-line transcations using a credit card-based as a form of payment. The report concluded that online purchases increased to €1.835 million, which equates to a 28% increase when compared to the same quarter last year.
Both the volume and collective value of online purchases in Spain has increased steadily since 2009 with the majority of sales going to Spanish based companies. Sales related to the tourism industry accounted for 38% of online revenues, followed by direct marketing, online gambling, tickets for sports and events, clothing, and, finally, online education. The report also noted a rise in online purchases from companies overseas.
