Less than two weeks after the Guardia Guardia Civil and the Royal Navy faced each other off the coast of Gibraltar over an arrest of drugs traffickers, yet another skirmish has taken place. The rock reported an incident between a Spanish Army patrol boat and a commercial ship in the disputed waters on Tuesday of last week.
The Gibraltar government claims that the Guardia approached the boat and demanded that it left the are due to it not having permission to be inside Spanish waters.Howver, none of the boats that had been approached by the Guardia left anchorage after the Gibraltar Port Authorities advised them that they were anchored in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters and that the Spanish Warship has no jurisdiction over the area.
They also approached the Spanish warship directly to warn them to desist in their actions.
