Madrid-based Fomento de Construcciones y Contreras (FCC), one of Spain's largest Multi-national corporations, has engaged in a joint venture with four US companies to develop a solar energy project, to be called Emerald FCC.
The new venture intends to manufacture solar panels Texas, and will work closely with local colleges to educate and train students in certain industry skills in order to create a workforce for the future.
The bid by EmeraldFCC is just one of around 70 that were submitted before Monday's deadline to the USA's CPS Energy company. The utility will select one or more bids over the course of the next few months to award contracts for a solar project of at least 50 megawatts, enough to power about 8,000 houses, and could be the first of many.
FCC is active in over 21 American states and is reportedly looking for a base in the USA.
