Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said on Friday there would be no more spending cuts after the May 22 municipal and regional elections.
"I can guarantee there will be no more spending cuts after the May 22 elections," Zaptero said on Friday in an interview with la Ser radio.
For the last five days young people have been staging massive protests across the country, angry about unemployment and austerity measures.
Zapatero said he respects the peaceful nature of these protests and that the government will study the ruling by Spain's electoral oversight body on Thursday that the protests would be illegal over this coming election weekend.
