Meterologists have warned that a cloud of ash from Iceland's Grimsvoetm volcano eruption looks set to cause chaos in European airspace as it drifts south towards Britain and European airspace. Clouds are expected to reach Scotland by Tuesday and northern Spain by Thursday.
Earlier today France's Ministry of transport announced that flights will be cancelled if a "noxious" cloud reaches mainland Europe.
Britain's Civil Aviation Authority has spoken of likely disruption to air travel over the course of tommorrow as various airlines respond to the threat of ahs if it should enter British airspace. Iceland's air travel authority Isavia shut down the country's main airport on Sunday.
The eruption has rekindled worries repeat disruption to european airspace following the eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in April last year, which forced the cancellation of 100,000 flights and left an estimated eight million passengers stranded around the world.
Heathrow Airport is currently Tweeting that it is currently unaffected by the ash.
