Barcelona have lifted the UEFA Champions league trophy for the 3rd time in 6 years, beating a weakened Manchester United by 3 goals to 1.
An early goal from Pedro Rodriguez saw Barcelona take the lead, only to be countered seven minutes later with a goal by Rooney. A further goal from Lionel Messi, followed shortly with another by David Villa effectively sealed the fate of Manchester United, who lost in the final of the same tournament to Barcelona two years ago.
The result means the Spain as a country is now home to the World cup, the European cup and the Champions league cup.
The club had intimated that they would donate their share of the 173 Million pound prize fund to the people of Lorca, following the earthquake of 2 weeks ago, however this has yet to be confirmed.
