Despite the M15 campsites being dismantled, the 'Los Indignados' protestors have shifted focus to move the campaign in another direction. Yesterday, in Barcelona, as many as two thousand protestors were estimated to have approached the gates of the Catalan regional assembly with the aim of derailing today's planned debate on the regional government's budget.
Police closed the gates of the city's Ciutadella Park last night to prevent further access for more protestors, even though the regional interior department had ordered it to remain closed earlier on in the week.
As with the initial movement last month, protest leaders informed supporters of the cause through social network sites, to inform that at least 14 marches originating in the city centre would converge on the park. They intended to camp overnight outside the parliament building and early this morning form a blockade to deny access to any members.
This essentially involves committing a crime "But they have never applied this article," one of the M15 leaders said, adding that the protest would be "peaceful, massive and determined." Camping in the city is also banned under local regulations "Not everything legal is fair and not everything fair is legal," he responded.
