DEFRA Changes rules for bringing pets into the UK

Source: DEFRA - Tue 12th Jul 2011

As of 1st January 2012 the UK will relax its entry rules for pets flying into the UK from Spain so that animals without pet passports will no longer be required to spend six months in quarantine.

The new rules will still require the animals to be micro-chipped but no longer requires them to undergo tick treatment, although tapeworm controls will be kepy in place. The pet must still be vaccinated against rabies but no blood test is required. This means that the six month wait between blood tests will no longer be required and your dog or cat can fly just three weeks after the rabies jab. Full details of paperwork required can be found at .
