Late on Thursday night riot police used force late to clear the hundreds of demonstrators away from outside the Ministry of the Interior office, gathered there partly to protest the closure of the Puerta del Sol square, and partly to continue their protests against the countries economic difficulties and rising unemployment.
Unlike the evictions from the square earlier in the week, the event did not pass peacefully and resulted in a number of protestors being injured and a reported three arrests being made.
After trying unsuccessfully to re-take the central square, the Indignados resulted in taking their Protests to the surrounding streets where they blocked traffic to draw attention to their concerns.
Police have been increasing in numbers since the protestors were evicted from the square earlier in the week, where a greater number promised to lend support to come to the capital in order to regain the puerta del sol, which has put a strain on police resources.
