Today's scheduled meeting between the Spanish Football League (LFP) and the players union (AFE) was cancelled, following an extensive round of meeting held yesterday, which failed to see any agreement being made.
The AFE is threatening strike action this coming weekend - the opening weekend of the Spanish league - and next weekend, unless a collective agreement can be signed which will ensure that the 72 Million euros in unpaid salaries to over 200 players, can be resolved.
A strike would play havoc with Spain's fixture calendar, which has very few free dates in which to play any postponed matches.
The meeting has now been rescheduled for Friday, however, unless a deal is reached tomorrow Spain's 42 first- and second-division teams will continue with the strike as originally planned.
