The Ministry of Labour today announced how the country's rate of unemployment increased by 1.25% in August, with an extra 51,185 residents registering themselves as being without work on the previous month.
The official number of unemployed people in Spain now stands at 4.13 million.
There are now an additional 161,266 people out of work compared with August 2010, an overall increase of around 4%.
Unemployment grew by 37'707 in the services sector, 10'393 in construction and by 9'421 in the industrial sector. The number of agricultural workers employed in August grew by 2'467 in August, although it is likely that this is just for temporary or seasonal contracts.
