An earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale struck an area outside the town of Lorca in Murcia yesterday, with two smaller tremors nearby.
The quakes did not cause any reported damage to people or property but, coming just four months after the two quakes which measured 4.6 and 5.2 on the richter scale and resulted in 9 deaths, it understandably caused concern.
Tumbit's Dan Brammall was in Lorca visiting relatives at the time : "The shocks were nothing compared to May, but with there being a further two quakes in August and another two in September, the locals are obviously feeling nervous".
Augusts' earthquakes measured 1.6 and 2.5 - marginally higher than the 1.6 and 1.5 which the two smaller quakes measured yesterday.
"Even now there is so much construction and repair work to be done in the town, further damage it the last thing needed - especially when the locals are starting to feel that they have been forgotten about.
Central government have set aside 1.6 Billion Euros in investment for the town, and the Ayuntamiento has drawn up a four year plan in conjunction with the regional government.
"It's still early days, though" says Dan.
