Joaquin Albaladejo, the Deputy Mayor of Torrevieja and Chief Financial Officer who took up his position in the provincial government of Alicante in July, addressed the Costa Blanca Tourist Board earlier today.
He spoke of how Alicante's tourism industry creates business opportunities, but that the Tourist Board should do all they could to help reconcile differences between AENA and Ryanair, who announced cuts to 40% of the routes than they run from El Altet airport earlier today.
Ryanair will cut 22 of the 57 routes from the airport, which will take effect from November of next year.
Albaladejo offered the opinion that if Ryanair did not rethink their stance on the cut routes, that other airlines would be sure to take advantage of the benefits that the area had to offer tourists.
