The WWF has released a report detailed how more than 50% of the water consumed by Portugal comes from Spain.
The 'Hydric Footprint' report, which was published earlier this month, calls upon Portugal to review it's Agriculture practises in order to become less reliant on their Iberian neighbour. The WWF went on to suggest how rainwater collection and more efficient irrigation methods should be encouraged. It also called for move away from agriculture which used a high volume of water, such as Cattle farming or cotton production and towards more sustainable crops with a lower reliance on water.
