Scientists monitoring the Earthquake swarm and volcanic activity on the Island of El Hierro have released further data earlier today.
Team Members from the National Geographic Institute (IGN) reported that they had recorded 36 such 'sctivities' between 00.00 and 07.30 over 1.5 in Magnitude, of which just 4 were strong enough to be felt on the surface by local residents.
Of the four earthquakes, one was recorded with a magnitude of in excess of 3.6 degrees, which occurred at 3.30am at a depth of 14km, with a further quakes being recorded at more than 3 degrees. The recorded activity appears to be moving towards the surface, with earthquakes being reported in a range of between 9 and 20 kilometers deep.
One of the interesting things surrounding this recent bout of seismic activity is that the longer it seems to last, the crazier many of of the speculations and theories become, ranging from predictions of Armageddon to a new Canary Island potentially rising from the seabed as a result of the Volcanic activity.
However, I found this clip with a prediction of what 'may happen' if Volcanic activity erupted at nearby La Palma.
