The march began on July 27th when 50 Indignados left the now symbolic Puerta del Sol square in Madrid with the intention of reaching Brussels in time for the European Summit, which will be hold on the 17th and 18th of October. The group marched through a number of towns and cities along the way to hold rallies, increase awareness of their cause and attract new supporters to join them on the march.
The group had intended to camp in a park outside the capital, however the authorities have banned this.
The Indignados plan to hold an alternative summit to debate the Economic and Financial issues troubling Europe recently and will join in a protest march on October 15th.
Increased numbers of Police offers including riot teams and dog handlers are arriving in the capital, however there have been no reported incidents of violence as yet.
