Despite recent cuts to spending oon major projects and infrastructure, the Spanish government has allocated a total of €281m for two new contracts on the new high-speed rail line (AVE) to Galicia.
The Cerdedelo-Prado and El Corno sections will be complementary - one for each direction of travel.
Each section will require construction of a tunnel of approximately 8.8km, and will have similar budgets, one of €137.7m and the other of €143.3m.
The new route is designed for two-way high-speed international gauge traffic, and the project also allows for associated work such as excavation, drainage, structural requirements, services and road realignment.
