The results of a recent survey by Post Office Travel Money has been published, which shows how Spain has once again proved itself to be the best value family destination for families this October half-term.
The study surveyed the prices of 10 typical tourist purchases in 12 of the most popular half-term holiday destinations and found that the items purchased in the Costa del Sol totalled £59.58 - over 50% less than the cost for the same items in Miami. The findings also revealed how tourists can expect their sterling to go 27% further in Turkey and 21% further in Kenya than the same time last year.
Of the four Eurozone destinations tested, Tenerife came out to be the most expensive, with prices 86% more expensive than on the Costa del Sol. However, Orlando took fourth spot overall with the 10 items costing just £78.77.
Head of Post Office Travel Money, Sarah Munro, commented: "Price is bound to be a big consideration so it is good to report falling prices in five of the destinations that attract UK families. Sterling's rise against the Kenyan shilling and Turkish lira and its relative stability against the euro is also a welcome trend for hard-pressed families."
