With the arrival of the Spanish Arab Investment Forum (ASIF) in the region of Murcia later this weeek (26th and 27th October) no effort is likely to be spared in the attempt to raise capital from Middle Eastern countries for investment in the region.
The organizers of the event, at the Polaris World Intercontinental Hotel, expect the attendance of more than thirty different groups who are represnting Aran imvestors.
The three major projects expected to be of interest are : Construction of the new dock at the Gorguel (Cartagena), the Paramount Pictures Theme Park,and the 40MW photovoltaic solar plant at Lorca.
A Number of major financial institutions are also expected to attend : The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority; Kuwait Finance House; National Bank of Kuwait Group; Commercial Bank of Kuwait; Al Baraka Banking of Bahrain; Association des Banques du Liban; Sara Holding of Saudi Arabia; Orascom Telecom Holding of Egypt to name just a few.
There have been a number of key progressions since the forum was originally planned earlier in the year, only to be re-scheduled for October : The Paramount Theme Park has been awarded it's licence; Corvera International Airport is now to be operated by AENA and just last week the European Commission announced their support of the Mediterranean Corridor AVE network which will run through the region. The later project is also expected to link in to both Corvera airport and Paramount theme park - all of which are expected to benefit each other.
The president one of the group's organizers (GAM-Marta Consulting), the Lebanese Ghassan Aridi, is also believed to have been instrumental in the recent granting of the license to Paramount Pictures Great projects Murcianos (Premursa), for the construction and operation of that company's theme park in Alhama de Murcia.
The estimated cost of hosting the two day event at the Intercontinental Hotel has ben put at around half a million euros.
The event will also include the presentation of projects in other Spanish regions such as Madrid, Valencia, Catalonia, etc... which will be led by Maria Paz Ramos, CEO of "Invest in Spain".
