Campaigning for the Spanish general election get's underway at midnight tonight, ahead of voting less than three weeks ago, with the nation going to polls on Novermber 20th.
Mariano Rajoy will launch the Partido Popular's election campaign in Castelldefels, Cataluña, and Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba will begin the campaign for the PSOE in Alcala, Madrid.
Neither the former PP Prime Minister, José María Aznar, or current PSOE Prime Minister, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, are expected to play any role in their party's election campaigns.
The Los Indignados protest group have stated their intention to mark the elections by returning to the Puerta del Sol square in the capital, as they did originally for the local Spanish elections in May. This is despite an order not to do so from the central courts as it may disrupt or influence the outcome of the election.
A demonstration has also been planned for the 13th of November, 1 week ahead of the election date.
