The Partido Popular, voted into government in last weekend's General Election in Spain, is planning to call a halt to the sale of concessions for Madrid-Barajas and Barcelona-El Prat airports.
The claims were reported in Spanish daily, El Mundo, who cited unidentified sources believed to be close to the party.
The proposal was originally made earlier this year by the then ruling PSOE Socialist party, but the move was delayed by three months several weeks ago. The deadline for bids was originally set for just a few days after the general election was held, but the suspension was announced lst months, ostensibly to allow investors more time to raise funds.
The Partido Popular will not continue with the proposal to put out management contracts for the airports to public tender and instead will group them in lots with other airports with the aim of submitting them to private companies, the newspaper reported.
