Airbus have predicted that Spanish air traffic is set to double over the course of the next two decades, with Spanish airlines needing to bring an additional 400 aircraft into operation by the year 2030.
The aircraft manufacturer estimates that around 317 of the predicted new airplanes will be 'narrow bodied', seating up to 250 passengers, 58 being 'wider bodied' seating between 240 and 400 passengers and 25 being jumbo jets.
The Executive Vice President of Customer Affairs at Airbus, Rafael Alonso, went on to comment on the position of importance Spain has in the world of aviation : "Spain is a preferred destination for many international air travelers and as well one of the main hubs that connect Europe with Latin America."
He also spoke of the growth expected from 'low cost' carriers over the next two decades.
