As of 15th June budget airline, Volotea, will link Santander to Ibiza and Menorca with two flights per week to each destination. Despite only being issued for sale three weeks ago at a cost of 29 Euros, more than 2'000 tickets have already been sold.
The Head of Customer Relations for the airline, Alfons Claver, commented how the reception that the airline has been given by passengers of Santander's Parayas airport could soon mean that Volotea becomes the No.4 airline at the base, behind Air Nostrum, Ryanair and Vueling.
Flights between Santander and Ibiza (twice weekly) will begin on June 15th, with departures on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 17.05, except the first two weeks that will operate on Mondays and Fridays.
The return journey will depart from the airport of Ibiza on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11.05.
Flights between Santander and Menorca begin on June 29th, with departures on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 13.05, while the return journey will be on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 15.05.
For the time being these flights will only be for the summer period, between 15 June and 8 September, but Claver hinted that the routes may be maintained if the demand was there.
