Ryanair have announced that nine new planes will be based at Alicante’s El Altet airport, which will allow for new routes be provided for new destinations.
The new routes will link Alicante with Venice, Sevilla, Valladolid, Krakow, Altemburg, Smŕland and Stockholm. These new services will commence from the end of March next year, and the additional planes will also help strengthen the level of service offered on existing routes.
Michael O’Leary, Ryanair’s CEO, travelled to Alicante on Tuesday to make the announcement. He said Alicante would see 500 flights a week, serving over three million passengers a year – a rise of more than 50%. This would be just a part of the intended 400 Million Euros that Ryanair had earmarked for Investment purposes in the coming year, which would ensure the safety of over 3’000 Jobs.
He went on to announce that as from Midnight on Thursday 250’000 seats to and from Alicante would go on sale from just 5 Euros up to and over the festive period.
