The much anticipated recovery of the property market in the UK seems to be on it’s way judging by the response of visitors to the “ A Place in the Sun “ Exhibition at the Birmingham NEC last weekend.
Similar International property shows in the UK have suffered what can only be described as a disappointing footfall over the last couple of years and many of the organsisers had gone into bankruptcy as a result, but still the “A Place in the Sun” exhibition attracted a strong turn-out.
.The good news for Spain was that many of the visitors showed a renewed interest in the country - with more than 60% of visitors showing an Interest in Spain, with France coming in a poor second despite traditionally being a previous favourite and having good travel links to the UK. Unlike in previous years, the rural French Lifestyle was not represented, and Spain’s main competiton came from Australia and New Zealand, which were offering immigration packages.
Surveys of the those attending revealed that many have been waiting for the right moment to buy, and are now ready to do so, believing that prices have reached their lowest. Reasons for considering Spain Included: the climate, the friendly people, and memorable experiences and holidays in Spain in previous years. Buyers were also aware of the problems that were being faced by buyers who had invested in newer markets such as Bulgaria and Turkey. While flights to many of these Countries have been reduced or scrapped altogether during the credit crunch, almost all of the Spanish airports are reporting an increase in Traffic, with many additional services and routes being reported for 2010.
